A year ago I brought a very interesting book, Hand-knit works by Setsuko Torii. It contain a collection of knit wear using very interesting yarn by Habu. I absolutely taking by all the unusual type of yarn and design, especially the Chinese style pullover. Because of the book is in Japanese and I probably only understand 10 % of it, I have the book sit on the shelve for quite awhile. Last December I finally decided to order the kit from Habu textile in New York.
The kit come in a English instruction and two cone of Habu Shosenshi Paper…yes it does feel like paper. I didn’t start the kit right away, I wanted to start it when I have enough time and do it patiently. I think my decision is quite right, to knit this top, patient is absolute. The texture are so different from the any other yarn, is not very harsh, but quite difficult to get hold of it since it would crease like paper and slippery especially on metal needle. I have to do it slowly to avoid the crease and the slip off, since undo is a no no on this yarn. My gauge is actually a bit off, but I don’t want to frog..is hell to do that..got to cross my finger now.
